Today we are leaving with five clients from Pralognan la Vanoise with the aim of going down to Champagny via the Col de la Grande Casse.
With a hiker’s ticket in our pocket, we take the chairlifts from Pralognan to the Barmettes refuge. The weather is fine and fresh snow awaits us! A quick coffee at the refuge and we’re off for the climb towards the pass. The team is making good progress, we pass by the Lac des Vaches, at the foot of the Aiguille de la Vanoise. We set foot on the Glacier de la Grande Casse after putting on our harnesses
I make tracks in the powder, no one has been there since the last snowfall. The slope steepens to pass the Col de la Grande Casse, and the conversions continue one after the other until the top without taking off our skis. A little wind but it’s okay, we enjoy the magnificent view of the impressive north face of the Grande Casse. A long crossing on the Rosolin glacier allows us to reach the axis of the big slopes. L
The snow is really crazy and the turns follow one after the other with undisguised pleasure. It’s rare to have such beautiful conditions. Short stop at the bottom of the slope, at the Caves de la Plagne, to admire our tracks. We head above the Doron de Champagny at the foot of the slopes frequented by an impressive number of ibex. We take advantage of the beauty of the hamlet of Laisonnay to eat our picnic there. A good skating session on the cross-country trails of Champagny takes us to Champagny where we enjoy a good terrace to celebrate our descent.
